I have the i9 11900H, RTX 3080, 32 GB RAM, 3TB SSD Storage, and 4K 120hz screen.
Original Review: All in all, the computer has worked well until today. The fan can be loud when the computer is working hard, but that is to be expected. Suddenly, after less than three months, the WiFi suddenly stopped and got a blue screen error. Now the computer shows that WiFi card has been disconnected. Assuming some connection broke. No drops, water exposure, etc. Working one second, and not the next. Was on browser with one tab open and that is all, so not like it was heating up or anything either. Contacted vendor to see if covered under warranty and will update but felt worth mentioning for buyer consideration. Not sure if it is a regular issue or I am just unlucky.
The ASUS I bought in my opinion is the best and fastest computer I’ve ever on in my entire life
I ran a benchmark in Sniper Elite 3, set to Ultra. With all the bells and whistles turned on, I averaged 68.8FPS, and a max FPS of 148.6. That's respectable numbers, I'm hoping to see better when overheating isn't an issue.
My main problem was with the advertising. They emphasized the upgradeability of the laptop, citing multiple "drive bays" and a SO-DIMM slot. What they failed to mention was that these are all filled. So to upgrade, you have to be willing to lose what's currently in the slot.
The first 16GB of RAM is soldered to the motherboard, and the DIMM slot can only handle a 32GB module. So the max memory this laptop can take is only 48GB, (which seems low for a gaming laptop) and that's ignoring that you have to lose the 16GB module that's currently installed in the slot.
The 3TBs of storage are 3 separate 1TB NVME SSDs in a RAID0 array. Not a problem in and of itself, (my last laptop used 3 512GB SSDs in an array to get 1.3TB) but it does fill all three of the "bays", and because of formatting you lose more from 3 drives than you'd lose from one single drive. You also run the risk that if any one of the drives goes bad, you lose the entire array with very little chance of recovering your data.
I suspect that the advertising was from when the first model shipped with only the first 16GB and with only one or two drives, which would have left you room to upgrade, and was never updated as new models came out that filled those slots. It's not exactly false advertising, but it is certainly deceptive.
I don't know how the battery got rated a 4.2. With it unplugged, and the settings adjusted to save power, Windows is reporting about 1.25 hours of use. And that's without anything but the base functions running. But this isn't really a laptop meant to be run on the battery.
Overall, nice machine, runs games very well and looks pretty, but with none of the upgradeability they're claiming.
