Can the Cloud Alpha Wireless be used with PS4/PS5?
While the Cloud Alpha Wireless is only officially compatible with PC for full functionality, it should still function as a headset on the PS5, albeit without the additional functionality provided by NGENUITY eg. DTS, EQ customization, etc.
Can the Cloud Alpha Wireless be used with Xbox?
No, the Cloud Alpha Wireless will not function in any way when used with an Xbox system of any generation eg. Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X | S.
Can the Cloud Alpha Wireless connect via Bluetooth with any system?
No, the Cloud Alpha Wireless esclusively connects via the included 2.4GHz Wireless USB adapter. Bluetooth does not allow for sufficient bandwidth for simultaneous high quality audio playback and mic usage.
Does the Cloud Alpha Wireless come in any alternate color variants?
Not currently.
How are the DTS driver, EQ, and battery life check functions accessed on the Cloud Alpha Wireless?
Getting the most out of the Cloud Alpha Wireless requires using it on PC (Windows 10 / 11) and having NGENUITY (our software) running. Be sure to follow the instructions included in the box to set up the headset and load the DTS drivers.

I was hesitant at first, I feared that the headphones would always die out of nowhere, when I most needed them. I looked at the advertised battery life and I absolutely did not believe it. I was just skeptical about wireless headphones in general. I was in for surprise.
I've had these headphones now for 10 months, and I can honestly say I will never go back to wired headphones.
Pros:
- The battery life is amazing. Like I said, I'm on my computer all the time, and I've gone months without charging. This is the big selling point for me. You don't need to constantly worry about having enough charge in your headphones.
- Build quality. A lot of headphones I've had in the past (I don't buy cheap either) seem to break where the headband and the earpiece meet. This is because they use cheap plastic. This product uses metal, and has with stood my rough abuse. The soft part that goes around the ears is also comfortable, and never has cause irritation after hours of wear at a time. It has also survived several kidnappings by my toddler who likes to throw, slam, and bend everything he can get his hands on.
- Detachable Mic. I detach/Attach my mic multiple times a day, and it just keeps working every time. Sound quality is good.
Cons:
- Inaccurate battery readouts. You can tap the power button and a voice will tell you what percentage of battery remains. I've only heard two unique readouts: 100% and 80%. Its just not accurate. Even weeks after a charge, it will try and say that 100% of charge remains. This feature is just a gimmick and CANNOT be trusted.
- Volume knob. The volume knob is bad. It takes several turns to notice any adjustments in volume.
- Range. Range is only about 20-30 ft it seems.
Great product, will buy from HyperX in the future.
EDIT 1/15/24: HyperX has a firmware update that fixes the inaccurate battery read out.
Comfort:
I initially fell in love with the way the Cloud II fit on my head, and this headset only improves upon that. I never considered the Cloud II uncomfortable even after 10+ hours of consecutive use, yet the Cloud Alpha somehow improved upon it. It has a much softer headband and the included ear cups are probably the best I've ever used on a headset. I even tried to upgrade to some Wicked Cushions (which are available on amazon and they have great reviews) but they were honestly a downgrade, they were stiffer and more angular, which lead to a less comfortable experience. Add to that the fact that this headset is fairly light (i didn't weigh it but it definitely isn't heavy.
Sound Quality:
I'm no audiophile, and these definitely aren't studio-level headphones, but I'd say the sound quality is quite good. You're going to experience the typical gaming headset sound profile of slightly exaggerated bass, but that should be expected as that is typically favorable in games, and also sounds pretty good when listening to music (depending on what you listen to, of course.) I'd say the audio quality is about as good as the wired Cloud II, if a little better, and that's to say, quite good for a gaming headset.
Microphone:
The microphone is also a slight improvement over the Cloud II, which was already great in my opinion, though this may vary unit to unit because some people complain about poor microphone quality. Also, there is a red LED mic mute indicator which is always welcome and a nice improvement over the Cloud II. Additionally, within the HyperX NGENUITY software there is an option to enable "Mic Monitoring" which basically allows you to hear yourself when you talk (there is practically zero noticeable delay). This likely drains battery life but I will definitely be keeping it on because I love it as a feature and haven't had a single headset that actually has this feature since I had a pair of Turtle Beach Recon 50's many years ago. Not everyone will like this feature but I am personally a big fan.
Battery Life:
The advertised "300 hour" battery life may or may not be true, I wouldn't know considering I haven't needed to charge the headset since I got it. In all seriousness, it is very good, and there is a battery percentage readout in the HyperX NGENUITY software that also says the hours of charge left. I haven't timed it but I'd wager the actual battery life (depending on what audio level you use, if you use spatial audio, etc.) is around 200-250 hours which is incredible.
Build Quality:
There's not much to say here, the build quality is pretty good. It's a mix of a soft-touch plastic and metal (probably aluminum) and feels pretty nice.
Overall, I would highly recommend this headset if you're in the market for a nice wireless gaming headset.
Very good audio. Compared to audiophile headphones, these are a little muddy and bass heavy, but imo that's ideal for gaming and basic audio needs. From my experience, you're not going to get much better in terms of wireless bluetooth headsets.
I haven't used the mic a ton, but no complaints when I have. I recorded a bit, just to see what I sounded like and it sounded very clear. I love that it's removeable with a very simple 3.5mm jack that feels sturdy.
Speaking of sturdy, these are definitely sturdy. I've tossed them around and dropped them (off my desk) quite a few times, and no issues or even worries.
Battery life is INSANE. I've gone weeks without charging, and never hit low battery. I don't understand what kind of tech they've discovered, but they need to share it because I've never experienced battery life like this.
Range is very good. I use these on the top floor of a three story townhouse and can go down to the basement without them cutting out. I see complaints about range in other people's posts, which I find strange. Maybe if your range isn't good, you should try an exchange because mine is awesome.
Comfortable. I have a pretty big head (7 1/2 hat), and these are still very comfortable and could go even bigger.
My only complaint is that they turn themselves off after 10 min or so. I'd like to be able to set that for a longer time, especially since the battery lasts forever and a day.
Top reviews from other countries
The Mic sounds good (not the best I've heard) but is certainly better than most mics not including the Corsair HS80s and Virtuosos / the new 2023 Blackshark V2. Those two gaming headphones have shortcomings in other areas that overshadow their mic performance - of the three these Alphas are certainly more well rounded in general if you're looking to play exclusively on PC.
Pros:
Battery is flat insane - 300hours, it's like magic at this point
The fit is comfortable, with earpads deep enough that my ears don't touch drivers.
The build quality (all aluminum) feels solid
Sound profile is well balanced, and they perform equally well for music as they do for games
Price is reasonable (not cheap by any means - but less expensive than some others)
The microphone is decent
The gaming software isn't rife full of intrusive dataminers. It's basic and to the point, perfect.
Works well for glasses wearers
Cons:
Can't connect to phone with 3.5mm cable
Can't connect to phone with bluetooth
For a purely PC gaming focused headset - these IMO are hard if not impossible to beat for the price.
