Unboxing was a cinch... just unfold it and screw on the handle bars with the provided wrench. While doing this, I began to realize that this scooter is a lot more serious than its low price suggested to me at first. I know the Razor name, of course, but I haven't owned any of their products before. This is a solid piece of engineering and not a toy. (Ok, it's also a toy). This is good because I got this for commuting that last half mile after the commuter train drops me off, so I don't want it to break down while I'm on my way to a meeting or something. When it comes time to fold it up, just twist a knob, pull it, and Bob's your uncle.Generally, I've been renting Lime or Bird scooters when I want a scooter. It's very convenient... just pick it up from the sidewalk by the train station, ride to where you're going, and leave it there. But it also costs about $3.00 every time, or $6 a day, which adds up. On the other hand, having your own scooter means you have to carry something heavy around, and babysit it, which is less convenient but better on the wallet. This scooter is a little lighter than the scooters that Bird and Lime use, and perhaps a little slower in acceleration, but it's plenty fast. I'm about 180 (or so my driver's license says), and this thing has no trouble shuttling me around. As I said, the build is quite robust and serious. There is a colorful LED battery level indicator near your front foot just at the bottom of the steerer. That's also where the power button is. There is a three-conductor proprietary charging port under a stiff rubber seal along the side of the deck.Charge it up (it's fast), turn it on, get on it and kick until you have a little momentum, tweak the accelerator under your thumb, and you're off. The other thumb control (colored red for stop) is the electronic brake. It's very smooth and easy to use. The back fender can also be used as a brake. It's hinged and you just step on it. I haven't really needed to use that so far, but it seems like it would be good practice to get used to using that too.Handling is excellent. I don't think you can expect better from solid tires. There's positive traction and good stopping power. Pneumatic tires would have made the ride smoother, but then you'd have the possibility (some would say certainty) of getting a flat. No flats are possible here, so you'll need a different excuse for being late.I'm delighted with this scooter. Compared to the prices I've seen out there, I think this one is a great value.
