As promised; the game was delivered on release date, I received an email with the add-on items to my email address associated with my account, and I have been playing happily ever since!
On the game play:
I have not played a Monster Hunter game since the original Monster Hunter. There have been several other games released to Sony handheld devices, as well on Nintendo consoles. From the time of the open scene, to the quest I am on now, I have felt just like I did over a decade ago when I was playing on my PS2. I have loved all 24 total hours I've invested in the game, and am looking forward to many more with my friends.
Pros:
-Target audience. This game introduces itself so that is appeals to the hardcore and lifelong fans, as well as being excited and fun for new comers to the series.
-New features. The new features are not overwhelming to new players, and add a nice touch that I did not know would be missing from this sort of game. This includes bounties and investigations.
-Progression. Gathering materials and tools necessary to proceeding in the game is familiar, and slightly easier than in previous releases. This makes it useful for those who want to progress through the game quicker or are struggling with a specific quest due to lack of equipment. It is also great fun for the collectors out there who wish to build every set of armor and every customized weapon.
Cons:
-Multiplayer. From my understanding, this feature greatly improves once your friends or group of hunters are no longer doing main story line missions. However, it must be known that if you wish to bring others with you on quests...you have to wait until you finish out the cut scene before you can invite others. This plays a huge damper on those who are waiting to help you with the quest. It also ruins the flow of game play when either part or all of your party has to get through a cut scene, then leave their games to rejoin the party leader. Again, with optional quests or expeditions...this is not as large of an issue. But it will take several hours of game play before you get past this atrocious, and what I feel to be a step backward, game design.
-Lack of explanation of new features. This is on both my Pro and Cons list. The features are excellent to play...once you actually learn that they exist. I spent about 18 hours into the game before I figured out about registering bounties, investigations, the botanist, and other features. I found more detail about these features on third-party forums then the game or related forums told me.
All and all, I am happy with my purchase...and wish you luck out in the New World!
Overall, it took a quite a bit of time, but Monster Hunter World grew on me.
Here are my personal pros and cons (warning: slight bias).
PROS:
1. Once I really got into it, it became addicting just like the former MH games I've played.
2. It's neat to not have to buy pickaxes or bug nets and automatically have them. You're able to use them an unlimited amount of time without them breaking. They also don't take up space in your item pouch as in previous games.
3. The single player is MUCH more enjoyable to me. Don't get me wrong, I never bought Monster Hunter and expected a killer single player mode with a brilliant story and superb voice acting, etc., but it's actually very interesting this time.
4. Even though I am more experienced with this series, it is much easier to get accustomed to than previous ones. So for newcomers, this is a plus. Seriously, they hold your hand for the first several hours. You also have Scoutflies to guide you.
5. Once you CAN figure out how to work online playing, it's pleasant to play with other players. :D I haven't played much online, but I'm looking forward to meeting fellow hunters this week.
6. No loading screens during hunts when you switch areas in a region which is amazing.
7. Character creation is better (IMO). I loved creating my palico. :)
8. The maps are gorgeous, but there is something that bothers me which I'll mention in the cons. Some other reviewer said it looked bad all of the time and hurt his head, but I'm not having that issue. It's an vast upgrade from the previous games.
Middle Ground:
1. I didn't like tracking the monsters at first. Now, it's just whatever, but it was meh to me. It might be neat to others though. I also have to admit, while I wasn't keen on it, I can appreciate Capcom mixing it up and trying something new. We are the Fifth Fleet here to investigate monsters and their behavior in the New World after all.
2. There's not much space in your item box section to hold weapons and armor. I understand that we don't need a TON of space, but I typically main with GS and use SnS. I also have at least a few armor sets I always rotate between when I unlock the final sets (some for best defense, others to avoid or nullify elemental damage from monsters, my favorite set, etc). There might be a way to unlock more space so this isn't all too bad. Even if you cannot, it's not a deal breaker. I'll just really have to pick a handful of weapons and armor to rely on.
3. If you're not into grinding or hunting monsters time and again, please don't bother. Some people complain and it's not worth giving this game a one star over just because you cannot do grinding or HANDLE it (shout out to the scrubs who rage quit after one hunt). You slay monsters, make armor and weapons, then slay them with a devilish grin as you adorn a coat from their family/friends. >:)
CONS:
1. I immensely dislike how single player and multiplayer aren't separate. YOU CAN PLAY "OFFLINE" BY YOURSELF. I definitely like my single player separate though. It's just irritating at times to always create an online room and set it to private session each and every time. (warning: bias here).
2. For whatever reason, this Monster Hunter took me several hours to get into and enjoy unlike the others. I know it's basically same old same old, but eh, I'm not sure. I think it's because I over-hyped myself on this game (in other words-disappointed in it in some senses such as the hunting, our handler, it takes ages to get decent sharpness that lasts, etc). There's something else, but I just can't word it out. I'm thinking it's mostly because I did over-hype this game.
3. Iris (FFXV reference) is so darn annoying as our handler. I wish we got the other one in the introduction. Her perkiness can be cute, but most of the time, it is just overkill. I also dislike how I feel like her babysitter. She does have a FEW redeeming moments, however, if you like overtly cheery people, then this won't be a con.
4. Okay, I'm the LAST PERSON to ever complain about graphics and overall, it's not bad in atmosphere or anything, but at times, the fps drop is SOOooOooOOOoo cringy. It's mostly with the flying wyverns you see from a distance. They look horrendously choppy. I'm assuming (and hoping) it's not like this with the Xbox One X.
5. Multiplayer again, I CANNOT STAND being prevented from hunting monsters online with others because I have not seen a certain cut scene. It's Monster Hunter, who cares? Even for a newbie to the series, is it really going to bother you if you fight a monster you haven't seen the cut scene for? It's just a bit aggravating. Again, why I like the previous ones where single player and multiplayer were separate and there weren't any restraints. If I, choose to play online with others AND JOIN A QUEST in which I hunt a monster I haven't fought yet, I'm already agreeing to not caring about it being new to me or missing a cut scene.
That's all I can think of for now. Please duly note as I've previously mentioned, I have some bias so don't let that deter you from getting this game. All in all, I am very much enjoying the game and it's great to be a monster hunter again.

XBOXONEXを買う機会がありましたので、各ハードでの画質の違いが気になり買ってしまいました。
4K環境無しの比較で感じた事を書いて行きたいと思います。(P=PS4・X=XOBXONE・XX=XBOXONE X)
