With regard to design, aside from the fact that is directly plugged in, which means a) no battery/charging, and b) no bluetooth lag; I do hate the folding design , how when the kb is folded back, the tablet is always teetering. I prefer the reverse clamshell style in that regard, but it's a tradeoff. Those do not have as nice a keyboard, forget this one's impossibly thin and light format. Very similar to the microsoft surface kb, but the factory one for the pixel is even better.
Btw if it ever gets stuck in tablet mode/on-screen kb even though you have the physical kb in forward typing position, and keystrokes do not register- sometimes pressing the ESC key is required. If the opposite, have the kb folded back and virtual kb will not appear, folding back to typing position and return will fix it.
Now for the review. I love this keyboard. It's made to perfectly work with the Pixel Slate, and it does. It makes it so much easier to use it for detailed office work when I'm traveling. Set up is so easy, it's like there's no set up, which there really isn't. You simply let it attach itself to the Slate with magnets, and it is instantly on and working perfectly. I recommend highly. It also has a cover which acts as a prop for the screen, so you get a laptop-like effect. There's nothing about it I don't like.
And so I'm sure that currently - Original Pixel Slate Keyboard from Google - is the best choice in many cases.
Pros:
1) magnetic connector - perfect
2) magnetic adapting angle - very cool
2) nice backlit
3) almost perfect keypress
4) awesome trackpad
5) not only keyboard but also - a case
Cons:
1) too flexible middle part of a keyboard case - if using not on flat surface in some cases - it is not comfortable, if handling with keyboard and connected PixelSlate (in "closed" position) - these two parts of Keyboard-case can move and scratch one side (with PixelSlate) on the other side (with keyboard keys).
2) material from the outside part of a keyboard-case, and also material of the middle of keyboard constructure seems to be not durable.
3) high price
I have RMAed it back to Google each time until recently when the latest one they shipped me failed for the same reason and Google claimed my warranty period had expired and I was no longer eligible for yet another RMA. The problem is almost certainly a failure in the connections between the keyboard and the mounting bracket in the flexible section between them, a systemic design failure.
Do not buy this keyboard-cover - it is absolutely not worth 200+ dollars.
Time will tell if this keyboard can hold up longer than the Brydge did but so far I definitely prefer the feel of using this keyboard more. The spacebar works flawlessly (it feels SO GOOD to be able to type quickly again), there is no Bluetooth to cause lag/disconnect, and there is no battery (so hopefully no hardware damage due to overheating).

Reviewed in Canada on August 7, 2021
This keyboard is fantastic and a massive upgrade for the Pixel Slate tablet.
DISCLOSURE: I've only been using this keyboard for a couple of weeks now - I'll update if any longer term reliability/durability issues appear.
【PROS +】
• Seamless integration with the Pixel Slate.
• Keys are a joy to type on - doesn't get much better than this.
• Backlighting on keys is perfect - very Tron-esque but functional, not just pretty.
• Trackpad is also top notch - no jitter, acceleration and tracking reminds me of the Macbook Pro.
• Functions as both a keyboard and case/cover.
• Pretty to look at.
【MINOR CON -】
• Slightly "un-rigid" - it's designed to be used on a hard surface to prop the tablet up.
【CONCLUSION】
This ups the game for the Slate tablet - it's as good as any keyboard and trackpad I've tried and since it doubles as a folding case and stand, you get the best of both worlds from a tablet. Essentially, it turns the Slate into a high-end Chromebook and may be good enough to do away with your notebook/ultrabook, unless you have a specific application that requires one of those.
