Great phone for battery life and price point
My Moto Z Play battery was in the process of dying (battery swelling, lifting the lcd screen 1mm off the frame, 1 charge barely lasting 3 hours) so I googled phones with long battery life and was pleasantly surprised to find the Moto G7 Power. I was tossing up between a new Moto Z Play again and this, but decided on this as it had no recorded battery issues that Z Play does. There is a Z4 Play coming out, but it's still not for a few months, so I bit the bullet and sold my Moto mod projector and bought this G7 Power.I am overseas, so have none of the issues American reviewers have with being able to connect with networks. The phone comes with clear plastic case on. (pics of the phone as it is in the box front and rear are attached). I read a review here which said it gets slippery without the case, so i've left it on.Overall, it's been good. Small amount of time needed to reinstall apps. It works smoothly, it's great knowing you can not worry about battery dying late at night. Phone apps work smoothly. Screen is supposedly a lower res compared to very latest phones, but I haven't noticed any problems at all there. Photos and videos are fine too.Only issue was the included little pin, which is for sticking into the little pinhole, to eject the holder for the sim card and sd memory card. While it fit the G7 Power's one, it was slightly too large for my Z Play's hole, so I had to find a paper clip to eject from the Z Play's holder. I was at a seminar, before it started, while changing things over, so I didn't have easy access to my own office to get a paper clip. Sounds like a small issue, but it almost brought my eagerly awaited new phone's use to a halt for the day.Only other things, having used the phone for a week, is I haven't been able to get the much vaunted 3 days per charge battery life boasted about. So far, the best I've gotten is 100%--> 5% lasting 32 hours.Still, for daily use, it's good to know that for a 12 hour period, I am able to take 1100 photos, 3 videos, have data constantly on, and the battery will still be at 55%And I'm really pleased with the price. Given how quickly these things depreciate, I can't bring myself to pay top dollar for mobiles. For the price, you get a lot of phone, imho.Edit 9th Oct 2019- software works just like day 1. Battery doesn't work quite as long. Might reach 15% in 18 =========== hours continuous use now. Still far better than 95% of phones, but something for me to monitor.

Huge battery, powerful enough processor, 4GB of RAM, dual Sim and expandable storage. This phone is perfect at it's price range. 5000mAh battery guarantees nearly a week of light usage, or nearly 3 day of heavy usage. Expandable storage (I have a 256GB microSD card loaded in mine) is a life saver if you don't want to rely on the cloud or have a very low data limit that will make the cloud impractical - I have 60GB of music, a few movies at around 10GB (encoded to 720p, because it saves space and holds no benefit of higher resolutions on this device), and a dedicated space for ROM backups, apps, and pictures. The dual SIM support is handy for international travel or a work + personal setup (working on-calls in IT or healthcare is much more manageable) and supports TMobile bands well enough for my use here in the States, and works flawlessly in Mexico, Canada, and all over Europe and Japan. Note, this variant only supports GSM bands.

On to the screen: the screen on this device is HD+ (essentially a wider 720p resolution). While some might see this as a con because "m0ar pixulz is betttturz", it lends to better battery life on this phone, and its highly doubtful you'd see much of a difference anyway in terms of resolution between this and say a 4K screen at this size. The colors are accurate and surprisingly enough, the black levels a very good for an LCD with none of the risk of burn-in that you'd get with OLED tech (Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc).

Audio performance: we have a headphone jack folks. It works decently, but can be improved with an external DAC+amp combo. You do give up USB C audio (which is of better quality "out of the box") but you won't need to carry an adapter around with you to use your badass studio headphones. The speaker is just that: a single mono speaker that is shared with the earpiece on the front of the phone. The audio is OK at best and works well enough to wake you in the morning when using the alarm clock. Besides, if you're going to watch videos or listen to music, headphones are always going to perform better and not annoy others around you as much.

Gaming and app performance: I don't play mobile games, so I can't comment on whatever garbage touchscreen shooter game many play these days, but old school console emulation works well enough. N64 in RetroArch works well and looks good at native resolution for most games. Hand held emulation is where this phone shines though. No lag, good battery, and a perfect screen size for those old pocket consoles. As far as apps, I have yet to find anything that doesn't run perfectly so far.

The camera(s): the front facing camera has maybe gotten one use in my testing (I'm not vain and don't like taking pics of my self) and seems to take decent selfie pics. The back camera is a single lense that does an acceptable job if you replace the stock camera app with the gcam (on XDA) or using open camera (fdroid). Low light performance at stock is bad to OK at best, and with the other two (gcam and open camera) performance increases to good to great. You're not going to get Pixel 3A quality, but its close enough that you can consider forgoing the DSLR on quick day trips or your kids plays where convenience outweighs the absolute need for the best quality.

Final thoughts and a recommendation (or two): get this phone if you don't like spending $800+ for iterative improvements and fingerprint gimmicks and feature removal. You can't beat this phone brand new these days at this price. Grab a sufficient microSD card and a good case, and rock on to more important things in life. Do note, this phone has a non-renovable battery, but replacements can be found all over the web and is relatively easy to perform (if you're patient and take care not to damage your phone).

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello Moto. Great phone, great value.
Reviewed in Canada on July 6, 2019
Awesome value for the price. Few things I've noticed:
    - Connects to LTE no problems. When on a call, data displays (H) or 3G. Ran speed test, full speed on LTE, but when on a phone call, drops significantly due to drop to 3G.
    - When connected to WIFI, full speed test ok. When on a call, WIFI connection drops significantly. Why? No clue. I have 25MB/S. Speed test on WIFI gives me 20MB/S test. When on a call, speed test drops to 1.5MB/S??? Strange... Don't understand why.
    - I have Telus mobility, in Canada. SIM works on SIM slot 2, but won't connect on SIM slot 1.

    - No notification LED. Touch screen when screen is off, and you see your notifications on the screen, so no need for the LED.

    - No NFC or Wireless charging.

Apart from these things, this phone is amazing value for your money. Battery life is amazing. Used only 30% battery for 1 day use.

Fingerprint is as quick as my Note 9.

All around, amazing phone for the price. Will know for next time. No need for an expensive flagship phone, when you get flagship specs, quality from this Moto G7 at a quarter the cost.

Hope this info is of value.

    Cheers.

Addition. As per Motorola, it's normal for this phone to drop to H(3G) when on a call. This tells me it doesn't support VOLTE (Voice over LTE).

This is a really great phone. The battery is a beast. Very fast with room for dual Sims and a mem card impressed me alot. Can happily see this as my everyday for years to come. A friend just bought a $1600 Samsung, I believe he wasted $1400.

I absolutely love this phone. I've had it for almost a year, and continue to be impressed with it every day. For the price, it's absolutely amazing. The battery life is unbelievable. Despite not having the highest resolution, the screen looks really good. The fingerprint reader is a nice touch, and the camera is surprisingly decent for a budget phone. It doesn't have NFC or wireless charging, which are the only real shortcomings, but at this price it's expected. USB-C is also nice for a phone at this price. I love this phone and can't recommend enough!
