Product Description

    • What do you get when you combine attributes from legendary Maxxis treads like the Minion DHR II, High Roller, and Shorty? You get the Assegai, the new signature tire from the mind of Greg Minnaar! The tall knobs punch through dust and loam to find traction, but also offer support and confidence on wet roots and rocks

      • Specification
      • World Cup Champion Greg Minnaar's signature tyre
      • Best for Loose, Loose/Hard, Medium, Wet
      • Cornering Control 1 2 3 4
      • Rolling Efficiency 1 2 3 4
      • Compound: Dual Compound Technology
      • Breaker: EXO Puncture Protection
      • Max PSI: 50
      • Bead Type: Folding
      Tubeless Tyre
    • TPI: 60
    • Weight: 1005g

  • Dual Compound

Two compounds used within the tread of select tires to offer lower rolling resistance and increased cornering grip

  • EXO

An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tyres. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tyre remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high

  • Tubeless Ready

Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tire; and less chance of flatting since there is no tube. Liquid sealants should only be used in the following types of tires: Tubeless Road, Tubular, and Tubeless Ready. The use of liquid sealants in any other Maxxis tire will void the warranty

  • Wide Trail

Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tyre's tread layout and profile on today's modern, wider rims. Traditional tyres are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tyre profile, leading to less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width but are proven to work over a range from 30-35mm inner rim widths, depending on the rider’s preference

Superb performance as a front tire. Paired with a Dissector out back. All the traction you need while leaning over in those flat, east coast turns. Plenty of protection in rock gardens without the weight penalty. To date, I don't need anything else.

The extra grip makes me feel much more confident while riding. The added weight makes the bike a little harder to pedal.

Great tubeless tire. Easy to install and worked really well on some dry downhill trails.

A bit difficult to install for me, but once it’s on, a world of difference was noticed on my rides. The grip is absolutely amazing on my local trails, where I have quite a few roots to deal with. Paired with 2.4 DHR II in the rear, I have noticed a huge difference when compared to my stock Bontrager’s on my Trek Fuel EX 5.

The Assagai is to me the best all around tires for my area. It rolls fast and corners amazing. The rolling resistance is low, but can be felt on smooth surfaces, buts it the traction that it's known for. Only other tire that i can compare it to is the Specialized Eliminator T7 compound.

Maxxis tires are awesome - this once continues the trend with a compound that offers even more grip. I had read that these can have too much rolling resistance, but I have not encountered it on trail conditions yet - *possibly a little when riding on hard road surfaces, etc, but just barely. On the trails the tire rolls over everything and does not slide out like other tires i have used.

The jury is still out on its ability to shed muck like other Maxxis tires.

It might be bad luck but they get sidewall tears and punctures just like any other tire. I have a plug in it right now

Ciao
