Product Description

The Daytona series of helmets have always set the standard for technology, safety, and artistic design, and the all-new D4 Carbon ups the game even further. Using TeXtreme Spread Tow carbon fiber reinforcements in the shell, the new D4 Carbon has dropped almost 50 grams without sacrificing any of the strength of the previous model. At 1000g claimed weight, this is one of the lightest and most refined full-face helmets we've ever seen. Despite the trimmed down weight, Troy Lee was able to beef up the helmet's protection system by adding EPS impact foam in strategic areas to increase strength and durability. Integrated MIPS helps to reduce rotational motion transferred to the dome from angled impacts to the head, and there's now an EPP collarbone protection system to reduce the forces transferred to this sensitive area in the event of a crash. The new D4 is rounded out with lightweight titanium D-ring adjustments, and quick release XT2 3D cheek pads and X-Static washable liner.

one of the best full-faced MTB helmets on the planet, just not very comfortable for me.
4 Stars
one of the best full-faced MTB helmets on the planet, just not very comfortable for me.
With Universal accolades and consistently reviewed as one of the absolute best down-hill MTB helmets on the planet, I personally think the Troy Lee Designs D4 Carbon Helmet in "Mirage Black/Red" is the best looking full-faced helmet on the market at this time. It it light weight with good ventilation.... It just isn't very comfortable on my head after all day riding.I am right between a size small and medium in most high-end motorcycle helmets, and right on the small-end of size medium according to the Troy Lee Designs' sizing chart. I bought both the size small and the the size medium, then returned the size small -- it was WAY too small. Even with careful size testing, it simply is not especially comfortable after wearing for a while.Purchased for my 40mph Veteran Sherman (EUC) electric unicycle.I added:1. an "EVT Safe Zone Bicycle Helmet Mirror" and it is the best helmet mirror I've ever used.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LVHZ4O2. the best reflective tape on the planet.3. a fake DOT sticker because I occasionally wear this helmet while on my motorcycle on the road, plus I thought it was silly.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DMYAM4UI like the helmet, and love how it looks plus the serious safety technology that it employees.
