Riders want the derailleur to do its job shifting on command, whether under climbing load or the stage finish. The GX Eagle derailleur gets it done with an updated cage architecture that improves chain management. |
Refined to work with the new 10-52t cassettes, it’s also backwards compatible for the 10-50t versions. Giving riders choice, because that’s how it should be. |
Finished with the new GX Eagle master colorway – to compliment any cassette and chain colorway a rider wants from the Eagle Colorsystem. Further proof that the GX Eagle derailleur is there for one thing - to do the job. |
INSTALLING THE GX EAGLE REAR DERAILLEUR
- Use the derailleur hanger alignment tool to make sure the hanger is straight before installing the derailleur.
- Do not apply grease to the threads of the derailleur mounting bolt or hanger.
- Make sure the B-adjust tab is positioned properly against the hanger. Ensure that there are no gaps between the B washer and the rear derailleur hanger.
- Use a 5mm hex wrench to thread the derailleur mounting bolts into the hanger. Tighten bolt to 10 to 12 Newton meters, ensuring the B-adjust tab stays pressed against hanger while tightening the mounting bolt.

(Note that I kept the original SX/NX cassette and it works perfectly well with the GX derailleur.)
Unfortunately someone between the seller and shipping broke the seal on the box. Which sucks because the box doesn't just hold itself closed and the derailleur was just bouncing around in the box rubbing up against the paperwork and the cardboard cover, which took a very small amount of paint off. I know I will damage it much worse some day, but come on, for a new product that is pretty disappointing. Since this was my second attempt at ordering this thing and having to wait for a refund from a product that was stuck in shipping purgatory, I decided to swallow my pride and just use it.
It feels very solid, when it shifts it happens quickly and decisively, no more waiting around and listening to the chain grind around. I have ridden around town, but haven't taken it on the trail yet, but so far it seems quieter when dropping off of things

I had no install issues because I did the necessary research and measurements. You should know your bottom bracket type and measurements, if you are boost or non-boost, which spacers you use and where (all information is available at SRAM) take a digital caliper and measure. Just make sure you watch the videos how to install these products before you purchase the components and try to install the wrong one. Be sure you have a new high quality derailleur hanger. This is not a first time beginner undertaking. Know when you have no idea and ask someone and if you don't know or don't have the right tools, take it to a bike shop. You will need a chain whip, and the right socket and tools to remove your existing cassette, and bottom bracket, and same for installing your bottom bracket. I used an SRAM DUB BSA boost+ bottom bracket 68/72mm. I lucked out because it had the correct spacer for the right side, plus the boost spacer I didn't need.
I have been a Shimano product user and continue to be from a very long time.
When decided to make the switch to SRAM I was hearing mixed reviews from both sides about how good it is and how bad it is.
It wasn’t until I installed this amazing GX derailleur that I immediately sided with the ones that said It is a smooth, clean, shifting performance incomparable!!!
My entire drive train is now SRAM.
No issues, solid product !

This has had a redesign - especially on the cage and seems like it will be better at stopping chain popping out of the jockey wheels. The shifting is spot-on and indexes perfectly. The tool provided is easier to set the B-gap, and if/when I get a new cassette it will do the 52t - which is a nice bonus. I just hope the clutch is a bit more resistant to wear as there is still not adjustment.
